An Open Letter
Allow us to begin this letter with grace. May you be embraced with warmth in this moment, and the next.
We approach you now, in this virtual space, with humility. Behind curtains, we are women animated in every sense of the word — careless in some strides, loud in shared laughter; turbulent, wildly so some nights; loving in exchanged gestures; forgetful, capable of rage. These natural multitudes, in reality, are the energies that nourish Denuo, even as we do our best to approach this venture with the intimacy and serenity we wish to share with our community. In maneuvering Denuo to the beat of our personal lives, we cultivate a space of vulnerability that even we are still learning the shape of — a sensation profound in its elusiveness, but warm in its familiarity.
We hold this vision in mind as we pass through what has been a special month for us in many ways. For those that bear witness to our life here at Denuo, know that our intention is to share a full and loving prayer that we are here, although apart; to convey belonging, especially to those who may be lost. In however way we have encountered each other, know that you have left us moved. You help us feel whole.
These past few days were spent cradling in this generous warmth bestowed upon us the year past, and even before that — a presence that has given us strength to continue onward with hope and really, love. For this we cannot be more grateful.
From our experience, it is uncommon for a brand to be so genuinely intertwined with the human lives behind it as authenticity is both light and shadow and transparency leaves us raw to grow stronger. But that is the cause of fashion sustainability: to move beyond materiality — to reach deep inside and feel, to imagine and celebrate how special our time — past, present, and future life — is together. Beyond vintage garments, we offer this invitation to simply be as we navigate the world with kindness, curiosity, and the bravery to be ourselves.
This evening, we just wanted to share these sentiments in gratitude for the stillness we have been given as we prepare for our first season of 2021 and, ultimately, to let you all know you have been the most profound aspect of our lives these past years.
